Smart Group are proud to be launching our Green Levy this Earth Day.
GREEN LEVY
We are integrating giving into our everyday business by enabling our clients to pay a contribution which will go towards creating a positive difference in the world. As a certified B1G1 Giver, Smart Group will be donating to both global and local causes as well as offsetting the carbon created during events. Together, we will be able to make a huge change in making the planet a more sustainable place.
This is all part of our company-wide goal to reduce our carbon emissions by 5% each year, achieve a carbon-neutral status by 2030 and be net zero by 2050. To do this, the fundamental basis of our policy is to measure, reduce and offset. We have already put several policies in place to reduce and measure our food waste through Chef’s Eye and track transport and energy consumption through Planet Mark.
How does the Green Levy work?
For all new business proposals, our clients and prospective clients will see an additional line item labelled ‘Green Levy’ and will be charged at 50 pence per guest (no VAT).
What is the Green Levy supporting?
Clients’ contributions will go towards offsetting their event‘s carbon emissions and donating to global causes through B1G1, an impactful global giving movement, with different causes supported each quarter. Clients can access a live dashboard on our website which tallies the impacts of their support and categorizes impacts into the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Smart Group will also independently continue to support B1G1 too through campaigns, like our International Women’s Day campaign.
Why are we launching today?
Earth Day 2023 rallies around the theme of ‘Invest In Our Planet’, which highlights the importance of dedicating our time, resources, and energy to solving climate change and other environmental issues. Investing in our planet is necessary to protect it and the best way to pave a path towards a prosperous future.
Smart Group are excited to start this sustainable journey with our clients and know that event by event, we are able to make a difference.
