How Smart Group is Celebrating International Women's Day

At Smart Group, International Women's Day is more than just a day, it's a commitment. Here's how we're celebrating and driving change this year...

International Women's Day

At Smart Group, we are always proud to celebrate and honour International Women’s Day on 8th March. With 65 permanent female staff and 42 regular freelancers, we take great pride in our strong female presence across the business, especially in senior leadership and director positions.

While we are fortunate to work in an environment where women are empowered and supported, we recognise that many others do not have the same opportunities. That’s why we are committed to using this day as a platform to raise awareness and support initiatives that help create a more equal future for women and girls around the world.

So They Can

Building on the success of our International Women’s Day campaigns over the past two years, our Green Smarties team is once again making a meaningful impact. Through B1G1, we’re partnering with So They Can to provide sanitary pads and promote sexual health awareness for 107 girls in Africa for an entire year!

So They Can is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting young girls and women in underserved communities. With a focus on education, health, and economic independence, their mission is to break the cycle of poverty and create sustainable change for girls in need.

The organisation addresses critical challenges such as declining school attendance and rising dropout rates among girls as they reach puberty, begin menstruating, and often face early pregnancy. By providing access to education, sanitary products, and sexual health awareness, So They Can equips girls with the tools and confidence they need to build brighter futures.

The charity’s impact extends beyond the individual it supports, strengthening entire communities. By helping young girls to become confident, independent women, So They Can paves the way for effective, long-term change.

As part of this initiative, the charity will also distribute NIA Dignity Packs, which include washable sanitary pads, underwear, and soap—providing these young girls with essential resources for their well-being. This number reflects the incredible women we employ, both full-time and freelance, highlighting the collective impact we can create together.

HandsOn London

And the impact doesn’t stop there! The Green Smarties also hosted a volunteer day in partnership with HandsOn London, bringing together volunteers from various teams across the business. Together they created ‘New Mum Kits’ – beautifully decorated bags filled with essential items to keep new mums healthy and happy. Each kit is topped off with a personal note, making it a truly heartfelt gift.

HandsOn London ensures these kits reach those in need, including low-income households and mothers facing challenging circumstances. Through this initiative, we’re helping to provide comfort and support where and when it’s needed most.

A Message from our CEO

Happy International Women's Day!

On Saturday 8th March, we celebrate the amazing women who make a difference in our families, our workplace, and our community, as part of Interntional Women’s Day.

Here at Smart Group, I’m incredibly proud to work alongside so many talented women who inspire us all to do better, think bigger, and lead with integrity. While there is no doubt we’ve come a long way, there’s still more to be done to ensure that equality and opportunity are within reach for everyone – not least for our future generations. To the women who challenge us, support us, and inspire us – thank you. Your strength, creativity, and passion shape so much of what we do here at Smart, and I’m grateful for all that you bring to the table.

Happy International Women’s Day!
